EARS BY DR. BILL

(828) 606-4259

Age for Ear Trimming

We cannot stress this enough: Puppies heal much faster the younger the ears are done. Six to twelve week old pups will heal quickly. The pups will be placed in a head cap which holds the ears up during the healing process. Younger pups do not fight these as hard as older pups do. Also, the cartilage has begun to harden and any dimples or folds will be harder to straighten during the taping process. It is always best for Dr. Bill to examine the ears to determine whether or not he thinks they will stand. (Ideal age: Dobermans: 7-10 weeks, Great Danes: 7-9 weeks, Boxers: 7-10 weeks)
